Scope: Interior design and creative direction
Client: VICCA Group / Luckia
Luckia 82T is born with a clear ambition: to turn one of the most visible and best-located buildings in Bogotá’s Zona T into the best casino in the city. The commission came after previous experience with the VICCA group in Medellín and represents a leap in scale, complexity and exposure.
The building, formerly occupied by fashion brands, had a large interior volume, a lot of free height and a layout designed for commercial use. The challenge was not just to renovate the space, but to reprogramme it completely, adapting it to the technical, operational and regulatory demands of a contemporary casino.
From the start, the client was looking for more than functionality. The aim was to create a space that is elegant, striking and emblematic, able to move away from the loud, colourful aesthetic prevalent in the country’s gaming rooms. A casino with its own identity, sophisticated and memorable, yet without excess.
INUSUAL’s proposal starts from an international outlook, inspired by American Art Deco interiors of the early twentieth century. Not as a literal recreation, but as a contemporary reinterpretation of their elegance, geometry and way of working with light, reflection and atmosphere.
Located in one of the most active commercial areas of Bogotá, the casino is conceived as a contained, sophisticated interior set against the noise outside. The project creates a universe of its own, isolated from its immediate context, where the experience is built entirely from within.
The layout was one of the great challenges of the project. Fitting in the minimum number of machines and roulette tables required, incorporating a new escalator that did not exist in the original building and resolving technical elements such as the vault required multiple layout trials.
The space is organised around a clear functional triangulation — cashier, bar and restrooms — that structures the room and guarantees flow, visual control and user comfort without giving up maximum occupancy.
Materiality becomes the language of the project. Dark marble, stainless steel, mirrors and dark woods build an elegant, enveloping atmosphere. Materials with reflections and glints make it possible to work with light as a scenographic element, reinforcing the sense of sophistication without resorting to loud devices.
Certain elements are developed to measure with local suppliers and carpenters, such as the staircase cladding panels and the general joinery of the room. These pieces allow the design to be adapted to the real conditions of execution and ensure aesthetic coherence across the whole.
The design was developed by INUSUAL, while the management and execution of the works were carried out together with a local engineering team. Constant coordination made it possible to resolve technical contingencies without compromising the aesthetics of the project. The role of the site manager was key to maintaining the balance between technical demands, budget and design vision.
For several years, Luckia 82T was considered the best casino in Colombia, with an excellent reception from both the public and the industry. The project managed to position the client as a benchmark, showing that a gaming space can be elegant, contemporary and vibrant at the same time.
Designing a casino means working with aesthetic freedom, but also with great technical responsibility. Luckia 82T is the result of finding that balance.
